Subaru Unveils Special Edition WRX STI S209 with More Power, Tuned Performance Parts

For years, the Subaru WRX has provided an invigorating driving experience to enthusiasts near Santa Clarita. Its strong engine, sorted chassis, standard all-wheel drive, and manual gearbox make the perfect combination for spirited driving. Plus, you get the convenience of a sedan design. Now, however, Subaru has plans to make the model even more exciting.

Subaru showed off the new Subaru WRX STI S209 at the Detroit Auto Show. This specially tuned version offers a more powerful engine, enhanced drivetrain, upgraded wheels, and much more.

Under the hood, you'll get the same engine block. However, upgrades like a bigger turbo, forged pistons, and upgraded fuel pump bring output up to 341 horsepower. Subaru says the more powerful engine will push the car from zero to 60 mph in under five seconds.

Subaru has also added a lightweight flywheel to the mix. That means faster revs and quicker throttle response. Plus, an upgraded exhaust system means you'll get a throatier sound when you hit the gas.

Upgraded 19-inch forged wheels are part of the package, as well. These gold wheels are a half-inch wider than the original's, meaning they can accommodate grippier tires. That's exactly what Subaru has opted for, fitting the WRX STI S209 with Dunlop summer performance tires.

Subaru has also equipped the car with cosmetic upgrades both inside and out. A wide body kit offers a more aggressive stance while red trim and Recaro performance seats give the cabin a sporty flair.

The WRX STI S209 isn't available at dealers just yet, but we have plenty of information about it here at Subaru Antelope Valley. Come visit us to learn more.
